The Valley Town · Below the escarpment

Lawn care and snow removal in Dundas.

Mature trees, heritage lots and a valley that holds its own weather. Dundas rewards a crew that has worked it before.

The canopy is the whole story

Dundas sits below the escarpment with some of the oldest and heaviest tree cover in the area, and that single fact shapes the work. Shade changes how grass grows — slower, thinner, more prone to moss on the north side of a house — so a mowing height that suits an open lot in Ancaster is wrong here. And come October the leaf volume off a mature Dundas street is not comparable to a newer subdivision. A fall cleanup in the valley is a bigger job, and it should be quoted as one.

Heritage lots need hand work

Much of the core is older housing on narrow lots with established beds, stone edging, mature shrubs and fences that predate the ride-on mower. A lot of Dundas properties simply cannot be done well at speed. That's fine — it just needs to be understood before the first visit rather than discovered on it.

What we do in Dundas.

Through the warm months

Mowing set to suit shaded lawns, hedge and shrub shaping, garden bed and mulch work, weed removal, and spring and fall cleanups scaled to the leaf load a mature Dundas street actually produces.

Through the winter

Driveway and walkway clearing with de-icing. Older Dundas driveways are often narrow, sloped and tight against the house, which is a different plow job to an open suburban pad — and one where where the snow gets stacked matters as much as clearing it.

One crew, both seasons

The same incorporated crew handles summer and winter, so nobody has to be re-briefed on your property in November. Payment is by cash or Interac e-Transfer, and every property is quoted on what it actually needs.

Also serving Hamilton, Ancaster, Waterdown — see summer lawn care and winter snow service for the full scope of work.

Dundas questions we actually get asked.

?

Is a Dundas fall cleanup more expensive than elsewhere?

Often, yes, and it should be. The mature canopy through the valley drops far more volume than a newer subdivision, so the job genuinely takes longer. We would rather quote it honestly than under-price it and rush the work.

?

My back lawn is shaded and patchy. Can you help?

Shade is the single most common lawn issue in Dundas. We adjust cutting height rather than scalping a struggling lawn, and keep beds and edges clean so the whole property still reads maintained even where grass is naturally thinner.

?

My driveway is narrow and slopes toward the house. Is that a problem?

No, but it changes the plan. On tight older Dundas driveways the question is where the snow gets stacked so it does not end up against the house or blocking the walk. We work that out before winter, not during the first storm.
